PRODUCTION COMPANY: Fox 2000 Pictures
Director: Chris Columbus
THE SYNOPSIS
Digital Domain was involved in the earliest stages of Director Chris Columbus’ adventure of a teenage demi-god, designing the look of the creature ‘The Fury’ during pre-production, then joining the project as the lead visual effects company with Kelly Port as Visual Effects Supervisor. Digital Domain animated the Hydra – a five-headed, CG fire-breathing, CG-slime-dripping beast that morphs into a 10-headed beast – and worked on sequences involving both of the mythical creatures. For some particularly gnarly CG water scenes, Digital Domain deployed it AMPAS Sci Tech Award winning FSIM fluid simulation system, and its considerable artistic strength, with impressive results.
