Digital Domain used innovative matte painting techniques and detailed police reports to recreate crime scenes of the San Francisco ‘Zodiac murders’ of the 1960’s and 70’s. As the crew was unable to shoot at Washington & Cherry, a key location, scenes were shot on a blue screen stage and Digital Domain added the surrounding blocks digitally, paying special attention to the way it looked at the time of the murder.
