Visual effects supervisor, Aladino Debert, returned to work on season 3 of Netflix’s “A Series of Unfortunate Events.” The show creators had a distinctive look in mind for the series, which made building every environment practically difficult. As a result, almost every shot in the entire series was captured on a stage with a process screen. Unique lighting and concept designs, a lot of symmetry and a specific practical approach look to visual effects were just some of the challenges the team had to overcome. This “theatre look” required us to come up with many solutions to problems we hadn’t faced before and the resulting work speaks for itself.
